- Specialist Importers of Southern German Wine
South Germany, with its much warmer climate, makes wines which bear little relationship to the stereotype that the UK Trade has for German wines as cool climate light-bodied whites which tend to need to be medium-dry in order to mask high acidity.
A large proportion of the South Germany wines are in fact gorgeous reds (Pinot Noir or Lemberger) while many of the fuller-bodied dry and food-friendly whites are from the Pinot family and stylistically perfect to be distributed in the UK
All these wines from South Germany are from the State of Baden-Württemberg which has a combined vineyard area of over 27000 hectares (larger than either the Rheinhessen or Pfalz and representing over a quarter of all German vineyards) but whose wines have until now been little shown in the UK. For some people they will be one of the real surprises of London Wine Fair
